Program Characteristics and Requirements
Note: These are very loose guidelines which need to be clarified (see issue)
- Open Source - All materials provided as deliverables must be available under a free distribution license (e.g., GPL, Creative Commons, BSD, etc.) and contributed back to the Drupal community.
- Transparent - All projects are to be developed in the open.
- Inclusive - The Kata is open to anyone with a desire to learn and contribute.
- Agile - As a grassroots, community driven effort, we're able to continuously experiment and improve. We tackle all aspects of a development project, to business and marketing.
- Continuous - As long as there's need for Drupal development, design, and talent there should be room for a program that provides all three.
- Sustainable - It does this by allowing multiple stakeholders to support development projects they care about. Allocating funds to administrators and mentors will ensure stability and a high level of training.
- Local - The program strives to match apprentices with mentors in the same geographic area. This will enable interaction with each other, local Drupal groups, and companies who would like to provide on-site mentoring.
